I have a raging douche of an in-law that I recently needed to cut all ties to, which included Facebook (unfortunately, I can’t cut ties to the relative he is married to, but that’s a story for another day).

I had never actually friended him on Facebook, which I’ve heard through others was a smart move in the first place, but after he blew up spectacularly, bully-style, a few months ago via mass messaging I knew I had to kick his ass permanently to the curb. So I blocked him.

This morning I got to wondering what actually happens when someone is blocked. I knew he couldn’t send me messages anymore or see my profile (not that he could in the first place, though he could see that I had one). And from what I’ve found, it’s a lot more extensive that that. Via Yahoo Answers:

If you block them they won’t be able to:

- Send you messages
- View your profile
- See your profile in search results
- See any of your updates
- Contact you in any other way, shape or form
- Tag you in photos, videos, notes, etc.

Basically, blocking someone makes it as if that person does not even exist.

Perfect.
