Who Does the Outback Steakhouse Commercials

Stupid commercials really annoy me. Heaven knows there are plenty of them, and even though I utilize my DVR as often as I can, sometimes they sneak through, like when I’m watching TV live (it happens) and have to either have to do what God intended for commercials and head to the bathroom, or pause it and wait it out.

One in particular that bugs me is the stupid Outback Steakhouse commercials with the annoyingly fake Australian accent. I was struck with the urge to know if this guy was really Australian, or an American doing a horridly bad Australian accent.

I did a Google search for “Who does the Outback Steakhouse commercials with the fake Australian accent” and got a lot of hits, with a lot of other people feeling the same way. No one is sure who does the current commercials, though I was amused to see that Kiwi Jemaine Clement was doing them up until 2006.

What Happened to John Kerry’s Face

Last night we had the State of the Union on TV for a bit while fixing dinner, when the camera panned to John Kerry for a minute. Frnakly, he looked pretty horrible, and had a shiner around each eye. “Holy crap, what happened to him?” I asked.

Neither my husband or I had any idea, so after a quick Googling, we discovered that Mr. Kerry was apparently involved in some kind of hockey game incident (is that redundant?) “over the holidays” that resulted in a broken nose.

Now, Kerry is 68 years old. What the hell kind of hockey was this? Don’t answer that, I have a feeling it could have been played with Nerf equipment and very likely could have ended like this.

I don’t get hockey.

Has “Community” Been Saved?

My husband and I are big fans of the NBC show “Community,” and were really dismayed last fall to find that it was more or less being shelved.

We did the usual “Oh please save this wonderful show!” linking stuff on Facebook and signed petitions that we know will do no good, and then it kind of fell off our radar.

While perusing my stupid Facebook Timeline this morning (I HATE TIMELINE), I came across the link again and wondered anew what the fate of the show was.

It seems that, for now, the show has been saved from the chopping block. NBC exec Bob Greenblatt said he never had any intention of ending the show, he just neglected to add it to the upcoming lineup. Oh, and there’s been no mention of when it will return or if there’ll be a fourth season. Soooo….
